RE: Is The Cowboy Code Obsolete?

I didn't know that solar would be strong enough to run a pump but then I haven't been keeping up on the solar technology which I hope is increasing rapidly.
You are moving! to a place with springs and creeks? oh my gosh, I thought there WERE no more springs bringing forth water anywhere, what a blessing!
where is this new place and how much acreage?
but if you're getting ready for bed or something just reply tomorrow, I'm a little nuts and stay on here till 2 am lots of times!

I've been up with one of my guinea babies. It is a bit behind the others hatched 3 days later.
I think it has imprinted on me. You'll have to watch for that post. Lol
It is I think they call it low flow... I'll have to ask my husband and get back to you on that. Lol
Yes there is really so much out there it is amazing.

haha! now that Guinea will be following you around! that's cool though, they're great to have around. ya'll don't have coyotes or have dogs to protect the birds there?

We do have coyotes here in winter they feed heavy.
There is a cattle farmer down the valley that they favor. My neighbors have given up the fight and let them take what they want. So there are easier pickings all around us. My dog passed last summer. She was amazing but at 17 not a coyote killer. Here that is my job for now. Even in winter I keep a window cracked so I can hear at night. Over the years they have come here a few times but my critters are all housed at night and I am out there on them pretty quick, well maybe not as quick as I once was lol, but fast enough. So I don't make it easy for them and I'm always on alert.
My chickens and ducks are trained to go in at night. I will train the guinea also.
The neighbors think it's amazing. So funny.
I am a lover of life. Any wild animals even a coyote that needed help I would help them but there are rules here... We will not hurt each other and we will get along. If you come here with intentions of hurting those in my care it will not end well for you. I try to be a good shepherd and tend my flock and my own business. Lol
I plan to get another dog after the move. A puppy is like a child and needs a lot of attention to be on the right path. I would prefer not to take that on until after the move. But my heart is almost ready. I miss my girl.

howdy this fine Sunday @sugarcreek! so good to hear back from you. I'm sorry your family member, friend and pet passed away but she had a great life I'm sure and lived to be a good old age and you were both enriched by the experience. My wife and I put off getting another dog for many years because the loss is so great when they pass but when we got our place in the country it was time so now we have Jack:
jack (1).jpg

when are you moving and how many acres is the new place?
are you guys Christians?

Jack is handsome. I had a shepherd given to me at birth by my great-aunt up the mountain. He was my baby sitter. My mom loved to tell the story of how he carried my by the diaper. He wouldn't let me off the blanket. Lol great dogs.

Well, it's all about the money. We bought the land a little over 20 years ago. Did a short loan ten years. Big payments. Everything was great until the economy crashed. Our construction company took a hit. While we managed to get it paid off all if the improvements are taking years instead if months.
We sold the business and moved closer to our land.
Our situation is a caretaker situation so we have a lot of freedom but limited on what we can do here. We live with other off grid enthusiasts.
My husband is working 7 days a week.... While the work lasts to get the money we need to finish our road. It's 2 miles long.
When we bought it we had heavy equipment, now we don't. The past two summers we built a road in but we can't move there until we get it graveled. With so many critters I can't pack the supplies in. Lol
It is 225 acres. It is the property in my introduction post.
I love it! Praying the work lasts and we can get in there before fall or we will have to wait again. We need dry weather to get the dump trucks in.
We were both raised Baptist.

oh praise God so you are both Believers now, still? You said you were raised Baptist but didn't say that you ARE Baptists.

Anyway, I will have to go to your intro post, I should have already done that but I've been behind for hours all day, that's why I'm only getting back to you now after 10 hours! I won a big contest last week and spent a couple of hours on the post about it plus the internet went down!

but if I see that you have commented I will always get back to you I promise. 225 acres! oh my gosh thats amazing! with springs on it! double amazing, what a blessing from God!

Yes it is a blessing.
I don't really feel comfortable with organized religion but I am a believer. I try to live by the 10 commandments. There are 5 churches on every corner here. Lol but I'm new to the area still

what? you guys just got there and now you're moving?
What do you mean you aren't comfortable with organized religion?
we aren't comfortable with denominational churches and haven't been to one in ages, we only go to non-denominational ones.

as long as you are Believers then, that's what counts. I got a dog story but don't have time at the moment. are you guys up in the mountains?
