I do use propane for my gas range but only when necessary.
I cook in my Dutch ovens on the fire to reduce the gas expense and use my Solar cooker when weather allows.
It is our intention to develop our homestead utilizing permaculture principals and become more and more sustainable as time passes.
It's a pretty big project and we've had setbacks but I feel like I was born to do this!
Hoping to set a good example and inspire others.
We have Solar for power.
And a generator to charge batteries if there is no sun for extended periods.
It's not always easy but I love my freedom and this life suits me.

what all does the solar provide power for?
how do you have hot water for showers and baths?
And I assume you're raising your own livestock and I saw chickens and Guinea on your post, raising your own crops no doubt, this is incredible!

My Solar powers the lights, phone charger, laptop, TV, DVD player, blender, 12volt ceiling fans that run 24/7/365, mini frig and my portable washer. Just necessities. For sure have to work with nature. Lol
We are thrifty with water for sure to!
I forgot about the hot water! We have propane on demand but this time of year we use the outside shower Solar bags.
I changed phones when I joined Steemit I had 2000 pics in old phone and lost them! I have some in laptop trying to work on downloading some things.
We are just getting by. We really can't put money into building it all out until we move.
I am planning a snazzy outdoor kitchen and laundry house!
I'm not a fan of money it frustrates me to need it. Lol

wow sugarcreek I had no idea that you could power all those things with solar! that's amazing. and even solar shower bags. I don't know about those, I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to bathroom things!
I've done a few posts on the Amish and lived close to their big community up in Ohio and your operation reminds me of them.
Let me ask you something because I was surprised but grateful that you resteemed my post from today but did you see any of my others? because the one today was the worst one that I've done lol. I love the painting but it was put together too fast and it showed.
