Well there ya go, you have someplace to go in the winter if you lose the electric service for some reason. Our system here is so outdated and the big transformers to run them are made overseas so if we lost them it would take months to get the power back on because we don't have backup replacement transformers.
But it only takes a few days for society to breakdown and people start killing each other over food and supplies, that's the historical data, not my opinion.
I am thinking more positive, maybe because I live in a country, where we have such problems in some regions sometimes (e.g. in winter, when the snow cuts trees which fall on the powerlines), but most times it takes only a few hours, until the power is back.

I understand, exactly the same situation I've read about dozens of times when no one believed anything serious could happen in their country! I will not pester you about preparing until you get your own place. In the meantime I am sure that nothing will happen, the odds are on your side.
Then let the Steem rise up to the moon, and I promise, I will have a big shelter room in the cellar. There will be much storage for food to live for weeks or even months. And if you come and visit me, this will be the guest room for you, if you wish so 😉
There will also be enough real !BEER for you, of course 😉
lol! I heard that beer doesn't last long in storage but I don't even know. I should know more about that. They freeze dry everything but I don't know if the freeze-dry beer! lol.
I think I'll look that up because it sounds like a crucial component of surviving!
Yes, there are several fireplaces in the house, and if the heating does not work, they can make a fire at any time 🙂

I think so too - if such a catastrophe comes, then I will need real !BEER too 😉
Maybe we will have to brew our own beer then.
