oh howdy back @cicisaja! yes there were bounty hunters and wanted posters. there were also gunslingers and gunfights and they just didn't go out into the middle of the street and see who was the quickest draw.

Kelly is an outcast from England but then become the famous robber in Australia, I read a novel about him and also a movie, too much alike the wild wild west story in hollywood movie, except for they're not hunting for kangaroo or the aborigines😊 well... it is a mixed between true story and myths. I need to ask about it to the Australia historian, later.
Back to your post.. I knew that the most thing unaccepted by my mind is that quickest draw, but here in Indonesia, in one tiny island that well known as the producer of sea salt called Madura, that kind of quickest draw is happened some times but not using gun as weapon, they use knife/celurit instead. The action knowns as "duel carok sampai mati" or to the death knife duel.
I will read your other post about the texas ranger to clear my mind from "truth" and "myth". Fact and fiction. Thank for your time and response😊

Yes, hollywood movies and television serials because many of Indonesian people loves to watch movies especially cowboy movies. And, books... I read Karl May book entitled "Winnetou" and "Lucky Luke Comics" some classic books from America ...well that's how I learn to read and type in English Language😊
About the knive duels, I don't think there's any youtube video about it, because the duels are so personal. It's about pride of Family and inherits from generation to generation. I heard from a travelling fried rice salesman from madura, a duel start from a small problem, while drinking coffee at the local coffee shop, they were discuss about who will win the presidential election.. and it turned into debate because they have different choices, from debate into barehand fight, then... knive duels because the loser in the barehand fight not satisfied with the result. Well.. they don't throw knives to each other but fight using knives as weapon to hurt until someone dies.
After that, the winner will take the dead body to his family and gave the knive he used on killing to them and turn himself to the police. Sometimes, the loser family of the duel will accept the situation but never forget it and will try to find some way to revenge one day by the next generation. But sometimes those two families will accept and agree to a peace treaty.
It is part of tradition and even government through the police hand couldn't do anything to stop this kind of duels until now. People from other parts of region or districts in my country may not accept this tradition, but there's nothing we can do to stop them at all.

I mean it doesn't happen often? It is a waste of life, so sad. To fight to the death because someone has a different opinion about something as silly
as politics or whatever the topic is, the World Cup for instance?

I like the idea to write about that tradition, but.. I can't do that because it's hard to find the sources, though I knew someona already wrote about this tradition in his disertation, I will look into his book. there's so many quite strange culture and tradition all over Indonesia, killing each other for the pride or self-esteem, being a terorist in the name of faith, fighting between students for unknown reasons but a tradition in between the senior high school and vocational high school, kidnaping the bride to be, early age marriage .. and many more, but it's just happened in a small area .. not a general tradition in every islands and province. somehow they have their own reasons for that.
but I think I will write about my father in law great grand father .. he has a good story to share about his reputation while still young and alive. something like killing people for a pack of cigarette.

When I heard My Father In Law tell me about it, I remember the story about buffaloes massacre in your post. I think it was happened in 1940, when we're struggling against collonialism. So it make sense at that time. But now, sometimes a criminal can kill his beloved just because jealousy, rite?
Kidnaping of bride to be usually does by the groom to be, I don't really know the reasons for it, there must be something about "pride of the tribe"tradition. Early marriage age? Last month it still happened in celebes island, the bride is 13 and the groom is 9😢
But I believe that is nothing to compare with the gang rapes in India. Well... there's so many untold story behind every policies and history, knowing that to get a lesson learned and accept the diversity of culture and tradition.
