RE: 1 WEEK to go. 50 SBI to Winner. Last Man Standing Competition. Get your entries in.(It's free and a bit of fun even if you do not like football!)
hey sir blanchy..with steem plus..do you have to have chrome open to use that? I don't even know what it does. I already keep track of who votes for me and then connect with them.
Yeah it’s a chrome extension . It’s really handy . It has little add ons which really helps you. It helps when looking at post layouts and stuff like that. That is really interesting about your business’s . You never had a paid day off??? Were you not the owner??
Sir blanchy! thanks for the info about the steem-plus extension. In regards to the time off, yes we were the owners but no the owners never get time off unless they get large enough to have dependable people under them.
At least here in the United States, you talk to any small business owner and find out when the last time they took a day off. They won't remember because they don't. We talk to them all the time because we're big supporters of small businesses.
In the floor business all of our major jobs were on the holidays when the stores were closed like on Christmas Eve we'd always be working all night running the stripping and waxing crews because for most stores that was the only time all year that they were closed..on Christmas Day.
In real estate we only had one other person working directly for us and we would let them off for the holidays but the banks....lol. you wouldn't believe the banks...they would make sure to LOAD us up with work right before every weekend and every single holiday to force us to work straight through while they took their 4 day weekends off. lol.
It was ok though, we made a ton of money off the banks but they were COLD blooded. AND, they were super strict. If you were late on a report that was it, you were finished so if you had reports for them, valuations on their properties coming due and the only way to get it done on time was to work all night then you worked all night.
It was a super cut-throat business and we had a line of Realtors waiting in line to take our position so we made sure they never got the chance, we killed the competition because no one was wlling to sacrifice like we did and the banks loved us for it.( As long as we were never late)
Hey that's why your stories of work is so fascinating because I'm like..what planet is this guy from anyway?? It's nothing like our business experience! lol. Your's is tough but at least they take care of you well. I've never had a paid day off in my life and never gone on vacation either so your posts are like a foreign concept but wonderful ones! lol.
But our next business we will have more people but it's going to take us a couple years to set up I think.
That is mad ! @janton why don’t you write some posts about your career life! I’d love to read them . It’s really interesting. I would say you could try your hand at anything. Do you not burn out?? No holiday , no days off . But if you are your own boss then I guess that makes up for a lot . That’s great about Xmas . A well known business man here called Michael o Leary started out selling milk and batteries on Christmas Day . He made 14,000 that day and he said he never looked back since .

sir blanchy! lol. that guy selling the milk and batteries on Christmas Day, that was brilliant!
Well, it was the way I was raised on the big farming operation we had, it was 7 days a week because of the cattle, you can't just not feed or take care of them for one or two days a week so that got me used to working 7 days a week. We still go to church or take time for that but we were usually forced to go right back to work after.
Now we don't have to do that at least in this moment in time, I just spend time on steemit, I don't really think of that as work though. Our new business venture will be 24/7/365 though.
Mrs. J got burned out, that's why we had to quit real estate, my dream career.
We would both love to take holidays and vacations but I don't know if we'll ever get to it, there is too much that we want to accomplish.
here's a funny one for ya. I've traveled all over the United States but no on vacations, lived in many different states doing different things but I've only been to one bar in my life. lol. I was with a guy who was meeting a business contact in a bar. I had a coke. lol. That's the only time I've ever even been in a bar or pub.
I did do one long post about our real estate career but most of our business would be boring reading for most people..it's not entertaining or funny. But yes I'd rather work 7 days a week year round than working for someone else based on what I see other people going through stuff that their employer puts them through! Your company must be an exception and now Mrs. J has found a good job too so there are exceptions.
