How stressful mind is affecting your working capacity

in #life8 years ago

Have you ever mentally felt so heavy and just broke down because of stress while you’re in the middle of completing your task?! You blame it on the work while the truth is, stress isn’t predominantly caused by one factor. The situations and circumstances that cause stress are called stressors. When you hear the word ‘stress’ you tend to think of all the negative aspects and relate it to negative external sources.

Whereas, basically stress can also be caused by internal and self-made factors, too. Anything that asks you for your high exertion, energy and effort that your mind is incapable of routinely, may cause stress. As the biggest part of the brain aka the cerebrum remembers 85% of everything that you have to remember, you may not feel or think it, but in the middle of your workload, it spontaneously and secretly reminds you of your other tasks. Hence you feel more stressful and reach a dangerous level called giving up.

Here’s how stressful mind is affecting your working capacity:

You become numb to thoughts and imagination

When the only thing you’re surrounded with is stress, your imagination and creativity decrease to a dangerous level. So much so, that you almost relinquish and want to give up on not only the present thing you were working on but also future workload terrifies you. Stress induces overthinking and exaggeration.

You lose focus and interest

The obvious first rip-off of being stressed is mislaying and dropping emphasis and concentration. You may not realize that it is stress that’s causing you to lose focus but when you start thinking of random stuff and the hallucinations it brings along, you apt to lose motivation, awareness, deliberation and attentiveness.

You lose creativity ability

There is a specific ‘Fight or Flight’ mechanism associated with your nervous system in your body. When you feel stress or threatened, your nervous system inclines to hormonal discharge in the body. These stress hormones are called cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones help the body in deciding the ‘Flight or Fight’ conclusion. They make your heart pound faster, your blood pressure rises and increases, your senses become sharper, your ‘6th sense’ awakens and your breathing increases as well as muscle tightening transpires.

Although it enhances your stamina and strength, the great decline in thinking capability actually is one of the biggest outcomes. This whole procedure makes you lose your creativity ability along with the loss of interest and focus.

  • You lose control

When you stress reaches to a whole new and different level, you may face high blood pressure problem. And in the long run, if your stress level remains constant or increases with time, you might get diseases like obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. You can lose absolute control of your life in both homes and at work/college. Recurrent muscle tension causes body aches and pain. You get tension nuisances, problems, headaches and migraine.

You start having sleep problems

Another big effect of your stressful mind on your work is the lack of sleep. For anything and everything in a day to do, you need obvious and at least 6 hours of sleep. There is no human on earth (and numerous species) that can go on and continue to work without taking a break, pause and a specific amount of sleep. Your nap routine gets disturbed because of stress let alone the night-time. The more stress you have, the more anxiety you’ll face hence less sleep and the less positive outcome will occur.

If you’re wondering why suddenly a pimple is popping out on your skin out of nowhere, you should know you’re facing a kind of stress that even your skin can feel. The biggest skin disease found as a result of major stress level is eczema (although other factors are involved in causing this disease too which are unknown). Though it might be found in someone with a family history of it and other allergies and asthma, stress; related to many skin problems, causes it too.

In relation to skin disease, pimples and acne, as well as lack of sleep and irregular schedule, you will ultimately start having digestive problems. The blame can be passed on to stress, for sure. Your eating pattern changes along with your sleep pattern, it gets disrupted and your whole schedule gets interrupted again.

  • Depression strikes

Long-term stress causes depression. Depression causes negative and bitter thoughts as well as making you feel overwhelmed, isolated and lonely. You constantly worry about future or past and ruin your present; the worst you can do to your mind and body. This makes you extremely stressed out and you start procrastinating. You neglect your duties and responsibilities. Your relationships and friendships are affected along with your workload and working capacity.
So, if you are trying to increase your work capacity, keep a check on your stress level. Do what makes you happy!
