DEPRESSION
Depression!!!
That little big monster that creeps up on you slowly.
It all begins with you worrying about a particular problem, then you start feeling really bad that you have the problem in the first place and then the devil tells you 'and that's not the only problem you have'. Then he starts listing all your problems and with each problem he reminds you of, you take one more step down the hole of depression and by the time he is done, you will be filled with so much darkness that you forget what light is. He then lands the final blow that will send you to the point of no return if you are not careful by making suggestions on what you should do and before you know it,
- you reach for that pack of cigarettes you threw out(the lie: just one stick and I'll feel better).
- you reach for the bottle you gave up(the lie: just one drink and I'll be alright).
- you call that ex who keeps leading you into fornication that you vowed never to call(the lie: he/she is the only one who understands me).
- you go to that pornography site you said you'd never visit(the lie: I just need something to get my mind off my problems).
- you go back to masturbation which you swore you would never go back to(the lie: I just want to feel good for a little while).
- you go to the pot and heap your plate with so much food that your body doesn't need(the lie: I just want to eat and forget).
- you remove your clothe line, start fiddling with it, all the while looking at your ceiling fan(the lie: just few seconds of discomfort and pain and my problems will be over forever).
DEVIL: 1
YOU: 0
Jesus said in John 16:33 "...that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world".
That you have problems is an 'in the world disease' but stick to Jesus and you'll have peace in the storm. Don't let the devil shove your present reality in your face rather shove your face into the truth in God's word until it becomes your reality.
Let the joy of the Lord be your strength this month.
Happy Sunday!
