DREAMS
In Africa, where we have over 1.2billion of youths. Everybody has his or her own dreams.
When I talk about dreams, I'm not talking about the ordinary nightmares we do have when ever we are stressed, I'm talking about goals, future, what we wish to become In the nearest future.
It is a pity that 85% of youths end up becoming who they never plan to be.
If we use our primary schools as an example, when ever we were asked that what do we want to become in future, we are always anxious to say lawyer, doctor, engineer, president and lots more. But it's a pity that larger percentage of this people will end up becoming someonr else. What is the cause of all this?!?.
Firstly, we can say that African parents contribute to this. Ask me why...
Some parents do choose who they want their children to be in future, meanwhile, the child already has his/ her dreams. He /she already know what to become in future. Some parents do choose profession for their children because of their selfish interest. Most especially the rich people ,they always do this because they believe they want the best for them.
Obviously ,the child cannot cope because that was not his/her dream. They've already diverted his/her attention and they led him/her astray. It's uncalled for.
Another thing that do cause this is *peer group influence *.Some of the youths already have passion for something, but because their friends are going for another profession ,they will not want to be odd. They will quit their own dream for another thing entirely. It will surely affect their future, among those kind of people,we have drop outs because they can't cope with the profession that isn't theirs. Some of them that have the privilege to further their education will further, just that it will be too late and they will suffer for the time wasted.
Another factor that contribute to this is *choosing the wrong role model *.
Millions of youths outside there always choose a wrong person as their role model. They choose role models based on how wealthy the person is. For example, my dream is to become a journalist in future and modeling at the other side, when I wanted to choose a role model, I choose Aliko Dangote ,tell me how does that relate ?!?.That means I've made a great mistake. As an upcoming model, my role model should be someone like Adesua and other successful models.
Again we have haste.A lot of youths are not waiting for their time, they will want to be rich the day they started working. It's impossible, remember Rome wasn't built in a day. You have to wait patiently and continue hustling.
The fifth factor is that youths of today are too greedy, they do envy their mates that are already rich and wanted to be like them. Meanwhile, they do not have similar dreams.
Lastly, there are a lot of youths that have bright dreams and wanted to be what they are created to be. But oops, they don't have what it takes .Financially, they are poor and nobody is willing to help their situation. They do not have people to help them in building their future.
There are likely solutions to this problem.
Parents should help and guide their children to become who they choose to become, if they believe it's not the best thing for him/her,they should advice them and make them know the reason why they are not in support of it.
Again, the government should help the youths to have a brighter future especially the less privileged. They can organise programs for the youths, seminars on how to discover their dreams and how to build it. There should be scholarship for the youths that do not have money to sponsor themselves, with this, a lot of youths will become what they chose to be.
Another solution is that as youths,we should see ourselves as the leaders of tomorrow, we should not joke with our future. We should make sure we are pursuing our original dreams.
With this, we are good to go. Let us make Africa a better place to live.
Say no to terrorism, say no to peer group influence. Pursue your original dreams....
