"Phase 3 - Our Off-Grid Life Style"
Hello Steemians! It's been a very long and hectic 10 days! We are still trying to get our off-grid homestead up and running. On Father's Day we were blessed with this double rainbow. The rainbow appeared right over our campers...I'm taking it as a sign that we are on the right path ❤️
I was so happy to see the foundation complete and approved, we are patiently waiting on our home to be delivered. Baby steps...
Our septic is all in and in the last image is the inspector signing off on it! One more thing accomplished!
Our crew is laying down gravel on our driveway. New Mexico has a different idea of gravel than we do in Ohio. It's more like dirt with a few rocks thrown in... but it's progress!
This is our home being delivered. As you can see in the images the driver kind of ran off the road and got stuck in a ditch. Lucky for us our construction crew (2 men) was on site to dig up some dirt and get them out. Our driveway is about a mile off of a main highway. So...it only took 3 hours to drive a mile and set the house on our foundation slab. I had no idea it was going to take so long. There was a little bit of damage on the outside and some paint was spilled on the kitchen floor. It could have been a lot worse, so I'm thankful.
While the delivery crew was trying to get the home on the foundation pad we went for a walk and was playing around with our shadows.
We were still waiting for them to get it on the pad so I distracted myself with taking more pictures of the scenery.
Still waiting while the sun was setting. By the time they finished it was 9 pm and it was dark. We were suppose to be on the road early afternoon to meet the movers in Mississippi to have our furniture delivered to Taos, New Mexico. We were also going to pick up our new fur-baby, a Yorkie puppy. A late start is better than no start! Need to focus on the positive.

Thanks so much for sharing this on Steemit. I am jealous in a good way. Some of us want to do what you are doing however do not have the skill set. I am a prepper and have stock piled but you and others take it to the next level of independence. In that sense you are my mentor. LOL We both are musician though. You should publish your adventure in book form. Best wishes in your dream.

I live in colorado and living off the grid is hip but really just tiny overpriced apartments. It's nice to see someone going all in just because they can. Keep the pics coming! What happened to the trailer?
