Different places are certainly different cultures, because each place has its own characteristics of life. Culture is created from the habits of the people in a place and these habits are carried out continuously so that they become the hallmark of the place and society.

For us Acehnese, one of the cultures is drinking coffee, for Acehnese drinking coffee is no longer a routine but has become a necessity. Every day there must be drinking coffee, at least once a day and sometimes even more. Drinking coffee for Acehnese is not just a drink, but the taste and aroma of coffee is very decisive.

The culture of drinking coffee in Aceh has existed for hundreds of years and continues today. This is the reason why coffee shops are very popular in Aceh, both in rural and urban areas. There is no village or area in Aceh that does not have a coffee shop.

For Acehnese, sitting in a coffee shop is not just sitting around drinking coffee, but a coffee shop is a place to meet each other and hear every development about everything in life. For the people of Aceh, coffee shops are a place for all sources of information.

The difference between coffee shops then and now is that in the past, coffee in the warung was only done by men, but now things have changed, women also drink a lot of coffee in the stalls. Coffee shops are places for business people to discuss or develop their business plans. The coffee shop is a place where students gather and carry out their college assignments.

And coffee shops also set their political agenda, politicians, talk about law, education, gossip and of course a lot of things that are talked about when Acehnese drink coffee in the shop. In fact, there are many stories when Aceh was in a period of armed conflict, the Acehnese rebels devised a strategy in a coffee shop, of course, while drinking coffee.
