Weird day Yesterday
The plan today, was to go horse riding. However, an inclement weather forecast, put a dampener to those plans.
A friend said that he was heading up to Lake Eildon.
So, with my family having their own plans, I ventured the 3 hour drive.
Lake Eildon is a massive lake. I had never been there, thinking it was a weekender place for small boats and hopeful fishing.
I was wrong. It is a massive lake system, with a huge dam, and runoff pondage area.
It suits anglers, with stocks of fish replenishing the lake, with species, such as trout & redfin.
House boats, which I will find on my next visit, have some with price tags of many millions of dollars.
So, I arrived at around 4 in the arvo, the twilight festival was just underway.
There were some food vans, live band & some market stalls.
The sun gave out plenty. In Melbourne, it was cold, cloudy & rainy, but here, over the ranges, it was warm.
My friend was partaking in a fishing competition, and was off somewhere around the lake. He, and his brother-in-law, ended up catching a redfin.
So, I enjoyed some wine & listening to the music.
The locals were very friendly and, when I caught up with my friend, we were hanging out with a group of locals, who work at an exclusive boat club, inviting us to take a look the next time we visit.
There was a jazz festival also running at another town, about 40 mins away. My friend, and his brother-in-law, wanted to see that.
So, we arrive there, watched a band play, which was quite good, finishing up near midnight.
Unfortinately, my phone was low on battery to take a pic, but I do recommend a visit to these country festivals.
We ended up at the brother-in-law's farm at about 2am, I had a quick snack, and jumped in my sleeping bag ( I had brought my tent just in case I had no where to sleep) but there was a small place I could crash.
The sleep was a little rough. I decided not to stick around in the morning, as I wanted tk get back to the family.
My friend sent me a picture of the breakfast I was missing out on...
Shame! It looks good.
Anyway, the morning drive was beautiful.
and through the forest...
A beautiful Sunday morning drive.
The only downer was the traffic back in suburbia.
Lake Eildon. Worth a visit and I plan to come back.
