Change is all around us
I have mentioned that I have been in the ICT industry for 21 years, and I think that all of us in the industry, know that this is particularly true in our own lives. We have to be masters at accepting change in order to survive in the industry. I am not saying this is not required in other industries. ICT just change faster than many other industries. Look at the platform we are using today. If somebody told you a year ago that we will receive revenue, in crypto-currency on a platform with a lot of like-minded people, who would've thought that? Many of the older generation cannot comprehend this. Time have changed! And guess what, it will change again.
3D Printing

Who would've thought that you will be able to print yourself a weapon, a real assault weapon, in your home using a 3d printer. I understand that we will soon travel to mars which is according to the Mars One Website a stepping stone in the human races to voyage into the universe. Guess what? The guys and gals will print their food using 3d-printers. The food will be printed and contain all the ingredients and nutrition required to survive he trip. Amazing isn't it? Not sure if the will print a burger and chips … but it will still be printed :)

Internet of things coming into the equation … we will very soon be connected to everything. This can be a very controversial topic, from a big brother is watching us perspective. However, this change is happening, and it all depends on what this information which will now be available be used for. As a very good friend and business partner said in a telephone conversation this morning … It's all about leadership … It depends on the person or organisation that gets hold of the information, what they do with it. Look at Steemit for example, it is a public facing website and the data on the blockchain is freely available to anybody that can code. The history is there, and there is a lot of posts, using the data to give information back to the community. How many new users joined … How many active users per day. Which topics are trending most of the time? Which of the users are powering up or down. Why? because the data are available. I am sure that there are also individuals that are looking at this as an opportunity to take advantage of this data for their personal gain. Big data and Business Intelligence (Or shall we say Information Intelligence)
Big data is here to stay. I have written a post about this a while ago about Big data - What is it really about - In laymen’s terms . When data is available, people, developers and organisations will develop new ways to use this data. Things will change … Again, it is all about the people on the other end's modus operandi . What will they do with it? They can do good things or bad things. New processes, ways to do analytics, things like behavioural analytics, are on the forefront of discussions today in most of the larger business analytical companies. This is becoming part of life. Whether we want to accept it or not, things are always changing.
Automation of marketing
I am sure that just like in South Africa, we are getting more and more phone calls , emails, social media pings and the likes. This is as a result of many organisations, automating their marketing processes. And also a result of more data becoming available. Sure there are people and organisations selling personal data for their benefit. I can promise you I am very much against this. I do not have an answer or a way to stop this. I hate this, but the fact of the matter is that it is happening. The world is changing. What we know are changing.
I can come up with more and more specific industry changes that will change my and your world.
Change on the Steemit Application
The Steemit application, which we use on a daily basis is just wonderful. I see this as a massive leap not only from a technology perspective. The Steemit application and the STEEM platform, has a reach far beyond the technical aspects. It can have a direct impact on our future and even affect our daily lives, and even further this platform has the ability to change the way the world are working today. @dan @ned and the developers of the platform, including each of us holds the future in our own hands. We can make this work together, or we cannot make this work together. This is however a massive change to the way most human beings understands the world we live in. A lot of change management still needs to be done in order for this platform to be successful. I will write something about change management soon.
Embracing the change
We are probably living in the most exciting times the world have seen. I am finding it exciting, anyway. I am also sure that many people are not finding this as exciting. We are a species of individuals, born in a specific place on earth, we all learn as a result of our experiences and the different life's we lead.
We all will die someday
The only other fact in life that none of us can change, is that we will all die someday. I have friends from various religious backgrounds, including Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Atheists and Agnostic believe systems, this is only to mention a few. I am an outspoken Christian myself, but believe we all have choices in life. I am not somebody that carries the bible under my arm and force my beliefs on anybody. It will be the most amazing thing to live the eternal life with everybody I have met on earth. I am very open for discussion about this and I sincerely hope that everyone on earth make the right decisions in life in order to go the heaven. It's our decision to choose what we want to belief.
Except for death the only other fact in life is that things will change. We all need to learn to adapt to change, in order to survive the future we are creating.

Indeed. I am not sure why it is some people's nature to want to step on somebody else to get to the top. I see this on a daily basis as I work for a corporate and that is just a normal part of life around here.

Change is inevitable from personal growth to business practices. Most of the time I believe it's a good thing but sometimes I get the feeling that we're all lemmings in one way or another and just going with the flow...right off a cliff.
Sometimes I believe technological change is a bit excessive. Do we really need a "smart" refrigerator? REALLY??? Beyond trying to make an online living, I'm doing my best to get as unplugged as possible.
I am with you @merej99 . Things are changing so fast! Although I am in the industry, I cannot always keep up with all the changes. I now work from the perspective, that if the new tech can really change my life for the better, I will look into it vs I usually just bought everything and tried it out. As per your example, I do not see any value in a smart refrigerator ... yet :)

Indeed death is the final answer. All our discussions will be clarified. Maybe all of this is just practice for the real change ... what the heck that is I have no idea.
No matter how good or how bad something is, it always ends. Change!
