In an emergency, who is really the first responder? It is those facing the emergency. It is not the cops, firefighters, or paramedics. It could be you.
Keep a fire extinguisher on hand in your home and car. Learn CPR and first aid. Study self-defense. Carry a gun if you can. Take personal responsibility for yourself and be prepared to help those around you. Remain alert to your surroundings.
It's only common sense.
This is definitely a good point to bring up, simply because so many people are too afraid to consider the reality of our situation, which is to say that life often does not go according to plan. It is important to be equipped to deal with any situation that you can prepare yourself for, within reason. In light of recent events, I have been suggesting this same concept to many of my family and friends. It may be morbid to think about, but it could just save you life. God bless.
WOOHOO! I wish I could upvote this 100 times. I'm so tired of explaining to people that in the face of real danger the first thing I'm reaching for is not a phone.
The evidence is conclusive. Where a shooter is stopped by an armed "civilian," the death toll averages less than 3.
Meanwhile, when people wait for cops, a dozen or more die on average. No, thanks!
I'd be ok with arming teachers. But I think closing public school is a better option. Jobs are more or less obsolete now anyway and everyone could/should just grow food everywhere.
I disagree about the obsolescence of jobs in general, but the government education system certainly is obsolete. It fails to teach useful skills, and it fails to develop the talents of the unique individuals it processes like factory products.
I don't think in terms of jobs anymore. I think in terms of what NEEDS to be done in order for one to live and thrive, not just survive. I don't see my kids ever NEEDING a job per se, but certainly wanting to have experiences and learn to create.
All excellent advice. I would also add that using an app such as Cell411 (https://getcell411.com) can be extremely useful. You can create public and/or private cells, who you can contact at the touch of a button, of friends, relatives, and or neighbors to help respond to a myriad of emergencies. In many cases, especially in more rural areas, these individuals can have a much quicker response time than the monopolized services forced upon you by the State.
I'm not a spokesman for Cell411 or anything. I have just used the app with great results and I like to encourage others to check it out. ;)
oohhh really, sounds really true.. guess a lot of people need to read this. thanks for the enlightenment @jacobtothe
information about a highly beneficial rescue
I will break to be useful for many people
I wait for the next post
I follow you @jacobtothe
Yes,
well said.
but as much as we are adviced to be alert, it all boil down to mental alertness.
nice piece.
i will tell my dad to get a gun, fire extinquisher and ambulance should in case....
Only get a gun if you are willing to bear the responsibility of using it safely.
that is a very important point. In case of an emergency in a small village, where everyone knows everyone, a gun is often beneficial. But in the case of an attack in a big city where there is already chaos, armed civilians that are not trained are likely to cause more harm than good.
So if you have a gun, think first or better, get proper training how to respond in emergencies.
Even in an urban center, I would prefer to have the option if discretion says it is the proper response. I always still have the option to choose alternative responses. And if I do need a gun, I do not have time to wait for cops.
I agree and support the right to have arms.
I am just warning that real life is not a computer game and in many cases a gun will not help
Very useful
