Emergency? Really?

Donald Trump has declared a "national emergency" in order to build his wall along the US/Mexico border.

If you're a Constitutional scholar, you should understand that document was specifically supposed to restrain government in times of alleged crisis, not something to be set aside when it gets inconvenient. It's supposed to make things difficult for politicians by restraining their ambition.

If you can see that the Constitution doesn't work as advertised, you have two choices: embrace the authoritarianism of politicians regardless of party, because what's good for the (R) is good for the (D), or reject politics altogether as systemic abuse without any remaining veneer of legitimacy. Government decides how government operates, and the "restraints" they will accept from moment to moment are only for public relations spin.

In the end, governments will always do what they want, using whatever fabricated excuse plays well with the general public in the mainstream media. It is time to recognize that it is always tyranny regardless of the facade it wears. Democracy, populism, old documents, and new bogeymen are all the illusions of a sadistic Wizard of Oz.

Why do these shutdowns and national emergencies never result in ending the drug war at home, foreign wars overseas, covert operations, data mining of the public, or any other abusive programs? Maybe because those are the real purpose of government, not your safety, security, and liberty. Stop making excuses for the political status quo. If you can't see how government always excuses abuse of power, and good people always suffer as a consequence, I can't help you.

Trump is wasting resources for this "emergency"... Soon enough he's going to make an excuse to drop live boots on the ground.
