Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 8 Part 3

This is a video from Day 8 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' five hundred and sixty-eight days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods. 'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. This is another fireside video. In this video I talk about getting most of my mini-shelter in place earlier in the day. I also mention that the panels that make up the mini-shelter turned out to be much heavier than I anticipated once they were assembled and perhaps making them from lighter materials in the future. I also talk about how I over-stuffed the insulation in the floor and ceiling panels and how that shorts me on insulation that I need for the front and rear panels. I also talk about how making the shelter out of individual panels I can later build more of them and reconfigure the existing ones to make a larger shelter. I also talk about the peace of mind of having a nice warm, dry, sealed place to go to get out of the weather and also to rest in. I also talk about how when I go to a new site one of the first things that I look for is a place to shelter from a tornado or other severe weather event. I also talk about cleaning up a bunch of old windows, glass panes and broken glass into one consolidated pile. I wind up cutting this video short because the coyote pack comes really close and my dogs run out into the woods to scare them off.
