Earning Crypto for Learning About Crypto? Pretty Rad.
I came across an email in my inbox today from Coinbase...
It was offering the opportunity to earn BAT, a token I hadn't come across before.
My first instinct was to ask...ok, what is this scam? But upon doing some additional research, and having been a Coinbase user for a while now, I was intrigued enough to click on the link provided in the email. It seems that BAT is aiming to change the way advertising is done on the internet, rewarding users for their attention to ads that they opt in to instead of just bombarding everyone with all of the ads, all of the time.
Coinbase has started an educational program where they will reward you for learning about specific tokens, BAT being one of them. Through the modules I completed, I earned a few BAT and also learned about a new browser called "Brave", which is powered by Chromium (the same open-source system that powers Google). Brave blocks adds, gives you some additional security features, and interfaces with BAT to reward you for the ads and sites you CHOOSE to view. You can also opt to reward content creators that you like with BAT. Very interesting. I'm giving this browser a try - currently writing this post using it, so I'll post a review in a few days about my experience with it and anything else I learn while exploring this new BAT token. By blocking ads, the browser claims to be faster and getting paid to browse seems like a pretty awesome perk.
Anyone else do the Coinbase BAT modules or try the Brave browser yet? Curious to hear others thoughts!
Stay tuned ;)

I’ve been using Brave for over a year and it’s great. Their model for changing the way content providers are paid is brilliant.

Agreed! Very refreshing. I'm loving it so far.
I've made brave my preffered browser for a few months now and I love it. I really just got it because it was great at blocking ads and popups lol the BAT token is a nice + though
Yea, seeing the amount of ads that its blocking is pretty crazy - you don't even realize that you're being exposed to all of that after a while. We've been conditioned to just accept the ads as part of the environment. Have you made any BAT for looking at ads? I haven't encountered any yet/don't know where to look for that function.
I have earned BAT from tips because I've set my website up as a Brave content creator. You should set up your site too.
I can't earn BAT yet for ads because it's not available in my region!
Set up my Uphold wallet yesterday - it was a bit of a hassle though because I wasn't able to select "Ontario" as a province. Was back and forth with a few different chat agents to get it sorted out. I think it's finally set though. Haha.
Ive done all of them for XLM and BAT its basically free money.
I transfered the BAT to my UPHOLD wallet.
Nice. Yea, I'm waiting to get sent invites for the other ones. :)
brave is highly recommendable. It gives you back control about what you share to the internet and it is not as shady as TOR Browser.
There is a reason why BAT is outperforming Steem recently. If you have a homepage, you can apply for BAT and the browser hands you over Tokens, whenever Brave Users stumble upon your site. @connecteconomy is using it, for instance.
Yep! Have been using it for about a year now I think. It saves you money and it makes you money - it’s a no brainer! They are rolling out ad rewards this week - maybe even today - and then everyone can earn passive income by allowing ads in their feed. This browser is a game changer. The only thing missing is a non-custodial wallet where you own the private keys, but I’m sure that will come in a future version.

Amazing. Thanks for the info and ideas @felix.herrmann and @connecteconomy! :)
Brave rocks. I received a few airdrops but none of the sites I selected to contribute to have claimed my tokens. Good to see coinbase getting in this.

Ahh. Didn't realize that you could contribute tokens before places are actually set up to receive them. Good to know!
