Scoliosis
Have you notice some abnormal curvature in your body?In your spine? I think it's time for you to have an x-ray to check if you have a scoliosis or not.
What is Scoliosis by the way🤔
The word scoliosis comes from the Greek word meaning crooked. The back (spine) should look straight, up and down, when you look at someone from behind. If the spine has a sideways curve, it is called a scoliosis.
The curve can bend to the left or to the right. The severity of the curve can vary from very mild and barely noticeable to severe.

The curve can be in the lower part of the spine (a lumbar curve),in the upper part of the spine (a thoracic curve) or go from the upper to lower part of the spine (a thoracolumbar curve). In some cases there is a double curve - like an S shape

A person with scoliosis will have a C- or S-shaped curve in their spine.
It can appear at any age, but it often presents from the age of 10 to 12 years, or during the teens, but infants can sometimres have symptoms.
The reasons for the change in shape are not usually known, but some cases are linked to cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, or a birth defect.

Structural vs. Nonstructural Scoliosis
There are two general categories for scoliosis:
Nonstructural scoliosis: A structurally normal spine that appears to have a lateral curve.Nonstructural scoliosis involves a temporary change of spinal curvature. This is caused by an underlying condition such as a difference in leg length, muscle spasms, or inflammatory conditions, (e.g. appendicitis), which may produce muscle spasm.
Correcting the underlying problem treats this type of scoliosis. The spine itself needs no treatment.

Nonstructural scoliosis is also called functional scoliosis. This is in contrast to structural scoliosis in which there is a fixed curve of the vertebrae (the bones of the spine).
Structural scoliosis. In these cases, the curve is fixed and doesn't go away when the person changes position.
There are different types:
Idiopathic. This means the cause is not known. More than 8 in 10 cases of scoliosis are idiopathic.

Neuromuscular. This means the curve is caused by a condition which affects muscles or nerves of the back. For example, it may occur in some cases of muscular dystrophy, polio, cerebral palsy, or neurofibromatosis. Each of these conditions has other symptoms and problems in addition to a scoliosis. Around one 1 in 10 cases of scoliosis are neuromuscular.
Osteopathic. This means as a result of a bone abnormality.

Congenital. This means the spine does not form properly when a baby develops in the womb. This is a cause in around 1 in 10 cases.

Scoliosis is a very serious issue. So,if ever you know somebody or someone with scoliosis or a member of your family suffering from severe backpain please, don't hesitate to go see an Orthopedic Doctor. My sister has a scoliosis,a kypho scoliosis . I knew it at first before we have brought her for a check up because of that hump on her back..She keeps on complaining that her back aches so much and she even lose confidence because her classmates are always telling her why is her back like that just like an old lady .And of course it hurts me to hear that from her. But Glory to God now her back is getting better .With continous check up,exercises,PT and putting her brace everyday.
I hope these few informations about scoliosis will help you especially if you have known someone who has a scoliosis.
Thanks !
