Dream Walker

Motionlessly staring into the ceiling washed with reflections of street lights, Sonya was waking up for the third night in a row just before the dawn, wondering what is going on with her dreams… She suddenly jumped out of her bed…
Sonya was a very pragmatic person, religious in her essence but not superstitious. She couldn’t distinct whether her dreams came from her subconscious, as a reflection of her desires or prediction of future. The only thing she was certain of, was that she has been visited by a Dreamwalker-she recalled the stories from her childhood that she never believed in, but now it seemed so real.

During the first night her visitor took her to a very deep, humid and dark forest, showing her peculiar plant placed beneath the large oak tree with obscure, tiny yellowish flower.

The second dream was not so pleasant. The Dreamwalker revealed her a very macabre sight. It was a vision of a place filled with people sick from some sort of unknown disease. Those people were trying to reach her in despair, as if they were seeking for her help. She couldn’t find any connection between the first and the second dream. The only link she could figure out that there was the presence of her visitor with friendly features in both dreams.

But the third night was even more unpleasant than previous, since the Walker showed her this time absolute emptiness. There was nothing from previous nights, not even a thing from her real life. For the first time she felt the emptiness and nothingness. She saw nothing but the abandoned cars and empty streets.

This dreadful sight took her out of her bed with a revelation. She didn’t need a fourth dream to solve the enigma that was put in front of her. Sonya wasn’t sure why she was the one that was chosen to have those dreams, but she accepted the task without hesitation- finding a hidden cure for an upcoming disease that was going to attack the Earth.

She grabbed her camping backpack and started packing her necessities for a long trip. With a huge responsibility and resolution, Sonya rushed out from her apartment to fulfill her quest which was given to her by a Dreamwalker.
