Photo: Where I live - Part 1
I am lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world. And because I love photography, I decided I will share weekly one photo of what surrounds me on the island I live on.
First photo I will share is on my terrace. This kookaburra we call "The Gentleman".
He comes by most days for a chicken neck and if we aren't paying attention he taps with his beak on the glass door letting us know he is about. He is a gent because he takes the meat out of your hand without snatching or biting.
He has a family whose territory includes our house consisting of his old mother, the mother of his children (two in the nest) and his sister. They occasinally come and sit on the terrace railings but are more shy.
We like to be friends with the kooka's as they keep the snakes away, although sometimes they fail to catch the odd one in the backyard. That is why one chicken neck is enough so he is still hungry to hunt. Also most of what he catches goes back to the babies until they fly.
Looks beautiful~~Look forward to your next post!~
