PARABLES ABOUT THE KINGDOM
1. The Sower - Mattew 13:1-9, 18-23
In explaining the need to hear from God, understand what it says and work in accordance with the word of God in order to enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus taught us the parable of a sower. He said:
A sower went to sow and he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and birds came and devoured them. Others seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up (since they were not deep-rooted in the soil), the sun rose and scorched them, and they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grains, some a hundredfolds, some thirty, some sixty.
In His explanation, Jesus told us that those seeds are the way people react after hearing God's word. The seeds that fell on the path are people who hear the word of God everyday but they do understand what it's saying and therebh lose it to the evil ones. The second set of people are the seeds that fell on the rocky ground and they represent people that reject God in times of trials because God's word is not rooted deeply in their heart. Thirdly are the seeds that fell on among thorns, they are the people who receive the word of God happily but the pleasures of the world could not allow they to keep it. Lastly, are the seeds that fell on good soil, they are the people that hear the word of God, understand what it says, apply it and it spring forth and bear fruit in them.
2. The Wheat and Tares - Mattew 13:24-30,36-43
Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a man who sowed good seeds in his field; but when men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and left. When the servants asked the farmer if they could uproot the weeds growing among the wheat, he refused and replied them saying, "No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them." He advised them to wait until the harvest day when the wheat would be gathered stored in the barn, and the weeds gathered and burnt with fire.
This is one of the messages of Christ you scarcely these last days. Right and wrong are realities. Heaven and Hell are also realities. Have mercy oh Lord and give us right hearts to follow you. Amen!
