Songwriter and Backup Singer
A songwriter, and a backup singer. That's how Nicole was known. Backup singers used to have a beautiful voice, and at times, sing better than the artist they are backing up. Nicole has been leading her group to sing better, from vocalization up to their actual job in backup singing in different shows and recorded songs.
Everyone knows she's a great songwriter. She wrote song for popular artists, and does the demo to submit to the record label. Those songs are supposed to be audition tapes, however, record labels decide to give it to popular artists along with some of her vocals in the chorus to be part of the finished recording product.
She can't do anything. They declined to sign her, and took the songs instead. Lyrics are altered with the artist performing the song changing some of the lyrics to be at the songwriters credits. Nicole got a percentage of the royalty, but lower than the others because of changes. In fact, her own version is even better.
The reason why she gets declined often is her reluctance to do what label bosses tell her to do. She has chosen to stick to her principles and dignity, something other artists are able to disregard in the name of fame and fortune. She continued on to her work as a songwriter, but she stopped as backup singer in recording so not to feed the hunger of lazy artists.
