Itchy Neck (5-Minute Freewrite Challenge)

Nicole waited her whole life to finally have a child. She and her husband has been married for 10 years, and did everything they can do to bear a child but to no avail. She came to the point of giving up, and considered adopting. Though, her husband doesn't want to.

She's been praying all her life to have a child. Then after another year, she finally became pregnant to a child. It wasn't easy for her because her body is sensitive, so they did all they can to be safe.

The day came for her to give birth. It wasn't easy. She had labor pains for few days. Wanting to normally give birth, but her condition didn't allow her. She has to be brought to the caesarean section.

It was a sigh of relief when she gave birth. Though, it wasn't easy for her and her husband, Ben. She has undergone postpartum depression, and her mood swings from left to right. Ben tried to understand her. She cries without any apparent reason.

Her postpartum depression slowly waned. Finally, she got to take care of her baby. Three years had passed, the kid seemed to be healthy. He became to become a chocolate lover. However, he's always scratching. His itchy neck turned to build up some hives. There they found he has an allergy. A year passed, the kid has been sickly. Ben and Nicole are worried so much that it's difficult for them to see their child suffering. Eventually, they found out he has leukemia. The couple felt like their life turned upside down. They did all they wanted to treat their child.

The kid, who's name is Chris, talked to his mom. "I don't feel good mom. But I always love you and dad. I may not spend my life longer with you, but I will be with you someday."

Nicole tried to control her tears, and told her child "No, honey. You will be with us for long. Don't talk too much, honey. It will make you tired." She then have her child sleep.

Afterwards, she went out of the hospital room, crying heavily. A month has passed, Chris has given up of the battle. Imagine the pain Nicole and Ben is going through. Their only child, which they waited for more than a decade to come, has passed away. All they can do now is to stick together because that's what Chris has wanted.

There are many parents out there who experienced such. Try to think of their endurance those times. It wasn difficult to bear, but they have to live through, and couples has to stay together as a gift to their child who left early.
