Fight or Flight When in Danger

in #physiology8 years ago (edited)

When threatened by danger, we sure do have the state of mind "go or no?", "fight or flight?". Recently, we had gone through the worst flood in our place. The flood has submerged large areas of our state, which was led to declaration of state of calamity in our province.

Flood last Saturday

It started last Saturday when an overnight rain poured around our place, from Friday night to Saturday morning. The water's depth peak at that time is about 7 inches inside the house. I was like "what am I going to do?", "save everything that needs to be saved!". My adrenaline worked as fast as I didn't expect! The water level is rising from 2 inches up to 7 inches, who will not worry? I got my panic attack gets me going.

As the rain stopped, there's a hope that the water will start to subside. It was peaceful from Saturday afternoon up to noontime of Sunday. By 1pm, the rain started. The water depth at that time went down a bit. However, the rain never stopped. It kept climbing. By 6pm, the water is rising. This got me even more scared. I don't know what to do, but we have to save our things that needs to be saved. My adrenaline rush moved me to fight and do what I should do despite the fear within me. I was praying by myself while saving things to higher level. The water went deeper to a foot.

By Monday morning, the flood has gone deeper due to high tide. At least we're safe. While saving things, you need to look at things like the plugs which can even pose threat. Gladly, things are safe.

When in danger, it is important to be alert. But you should have your faith as well so you will move and do what you should do, save what you can save.
