How to develop creativity and creative abilities?

in #philosophy8 years ago

Sometimes people talk about creativity and abilities to creativity as something that is given from birth exclusively to brilliant people. In fact, this is one of the fundamental human qualities that help to lead a full life. Creating a beautiful picture, story, song, bracelet or patchwork, gives us a deep sense of satisfaction, and it makes no sense to deny ourselves that feeling. And stop saying you're not talented enough. Take some time for yourself and take care of the kind of art that you like the most.

1. Practice basic techniques

First of all, you need to learn the basics of your favorite craft. To do this, it is not necessary to take specialized courses, though for some it is the most acceptable option. Perhaps your neighbor will show you how to make the first knots of woolen threads and how to hold the spokes in your hands, and perhaps you will find a good video course on drawing on the Internet or find the necessary literature and printed manuals for beginners in your favorite field. All these and many other ways to help you start without losing enthusiasm. After that, you will be able to switch to fully independent training.

2. Regularly find free time

Creativity requires not only inspiration, but also discipline. Set aside time to practice regularly to see progress. The maximum break can be a week if you can devote half a day off to creativity. And, of course, it would be better if the time for practice will be every day for at least half an hour. Remember this when you decide to "walk" the planned creative hour, citing the work and lack of inspiration.

3. And to create, and for critics there is its time

No process can go without problems and errors, and therefore learn to swim downstream while working on your creative project. Even if doubts make you doubt yourself and every step you take, learn to ignore your fears. If you succumb and begin to redo every executed element, every note played, erase every extra touch, as a result you risk losing both faith in yourself and the General idea of the work.

4. Look for like-minded people

Silence and loneliness will certainly help you hone technique and understand your own preferences. But the company of like-minded people can be no less useful. If you're a writer, look for free workshops and adequate critics to point out mistakes and help you improve. If you are a musician, find colleagues who play the same genre and practice together. If you are an artist, go to search for art groups and studios. Do not stop at one company or website, be open to new styles and trends and independently push the limits of familiar views and interests.
