Learning Filipino Culture
Hello all!
I have been in the Philippines now for 2 1/2 years. It has been a very good experience. Learning a new culture keeps my mind going now that I am retired. ( And not so young any more).
The first week I was here, CDO, I went for a walk at night. I felt safe because I am fortunate enough to live in a gated community. So, off I went into the night.
I was listening to music and walking on the sidewalk and I reached a very dark section of the road. I took my eyes off of the sidewalk for a brief moment and everything disappeared. Turned ou that I fell into a hole about 5 feet deep and 3 feet square. It was a water drainage hole right on the sidewalk!
Luckily I only got a few scrathes and I was able to get out. Wow! I did not expect that. I went home and licked my wounds.
How is it that something like this can happen here? My goodness.
It was only my first week. I knew then that I had a lot to learn.
I told my neighbors and they all giggled.
Well, ok then. I also laughed. I limped away.
The hole is still there and there are many more all around.
Its amazing how tolerant the Filipino people are. They are true survivors. They can do so much with so little. They laugh and smile and let you in to their home and offer you food when they hardly have any.
What a far cry from New Jersey, USA. We complain when if we lose electricity like once a year. Hahhahaha. We lose electricity in CDO twice a month at least.
THE HOLE! The hole was filled with leaves today. This hole is deep.
Well, there are holes everywhere. I got used to it.
A few more safety issues. Hehheh
How did he get that motorcycle up there?
Plumping works can be very dangerous.
The wiring has been like this forever.
Hey! Iam not here to judge. I am here to learn.
The people here are friendly and warm. As I am from New York/New Jersey I am not used to people making eye contact. It’s awesome. I like it here very much.
Again, I have a lot to learn.
Life is good!
Welcome to the Philippines bro!
It's more fun in the Philippines :)
