Venice is getting increasingly dry
Venice is an Italian city, for which floods are frequent occurrences. Therefore, the sudden drop of water that happened a few days ago became a surprise for many and mostly unpleasant, because gondolas in parched canals hardly drive.
Many factors led to a drop in the water level: cold weather, lack of rain and the recent super moon (January 31, 2018), which affected the tides.
The photos taken this week show Venice not in the best light. Boats and gondolas, stuck in mud and mud, look quite unromantic.
The drying up of the channels has led not only to the road collapse and the fact that gondoliers and water taxi drivers have temporarily lost their jobs, but also to much more serious problems.
In addition, it is now the famous worldwide carnival (from January 27 to February 13, 2018), which caused a large influx of tourists, who, of course, expected to see the city in a different way.
We hope that soon the situation will improve and the channels will be filled with water again, gondoliers will return to their work, and tourists will receive the promised romance of riding on gondolas.
Im concerned about the workers like those water taxi drivers...its sad if this is their onpy source of income. I hope it will get back to normal soon💕☔
