After Mataram City DPRD member, West Nusa Tenggara, named Muhir was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case for school rehabilitation funds damaged by the earthquake, the prosecutor's office claimed to continue looking for other perpetrators.
This case allegedly involved a number of parties because it was related to the budget approval for the Mataram City Government.
"We will check everything, all related to Commission IV, the Council Secretariat, and the Regional Development Planning Agency," Mataram District Attorney General Ketut Sumenda told reporters on Sunday (09/16).
"We focused on one suspect first, but if he wants to be open, it is possible that anyone can become a new suspect," he added.
Muhir, who is also known as the administrator of the Golkar Party in Mataram, was arrested on Friday (14/09) last week. The prosecutor's investigator confiscated Rp. 30 million and Honda HRV in the case.
Muhir allegedly asked for "remuneration" from officials from the Mataram Education Office and contractors. He claimed to be credited with guaranteeing a budget of Rp.4.2 billion to repair 14 elementary and junior high schools in the Amendment Budget in 2018.
The Mataram Procuratorate ensnared Muhir with article 12e of Law 20/2001 on Corruption Crimes, which prohibits state officials from misusing authority to force someone to give something to him.
The Head of the Mataram Education Office, Sudenom, and a contractor with the initials CT, were also arrested along with Muhir. When questioned by investigators, Sudenom admitted that he was forced to grant Muhir's request.
"He was worried, if not given, the budget could change in number or the education department's budget could be affected in the future," Ketut said, referring to Sudenom.
In the National Disaster Management Agency's record, at least 606 school buildings were damaged by the earthquake that rocked Lombok since early August.
Recorded, 1,460 of the total 3,051 classrooms in 606 schools were heavily damaged. Teaching and learning activities also stopped and were held emergencyly in refugee camps.
