Have you heard of Nancy, a city 348 km from Paris, that hosts a spectacular light show every summer?
It lies super remote amidst endless fields of sunflower, and when the sun goes down, you have a rendezvous in fancy Nancy's heart, where you will be spoilt with the light show. Personally, I've never seen something like this before, and I am still dreaming about it.

Place Stanislas

As soon as you reach the heart of Nancy, you find what Nancy is most famous for, “Place Stanislas”, named after the last duke of Lorraine. This place is a huge square surrounded by an ensemble of luxurious buildings, they are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites...

We did a little tour throughout the city, at first with a little train departing from Place Stanislas (with audio-guide et all). However, I wouldn't recommend it, Nancy isn't huge, we found way more sweet spots by foot.

Nancy turns out to be a street art lover's dream.
You've probably already seen Jef Aerosol's work if you've been to Paris, Istanbul, Beijing, London, or Los Angeles.
Aerosol's work, for instance that massive mural was a gift and it is worth 20000 Euro.

The highlight of our trip

When the sun goes down, the most spectacular light show takes place.
It is called "Rendezvous Place Stanislas". You feel like the buildings come to life, since they use a nifty 3D mapping technique and collaborate with many different artists to form one massive masterpiece. Every year there will be a different show. And every year it will take place during summer. I think you can even go by yourself, just show up, find a seat somewhere on the polished floor and enjoy the show.
