Belangkas atau ketam ladam sering kita jumpai di perairan air asin yang dangkal seperti kawasan mangrove. Hewan ini tergolong dalam hewan monogamik. Hewan ini sering kita temukan berpasangan, sehingga sebagian orang dijadikan sebagai simbol kelanggengan pasangan hidup.
Belangkas ini bisa juga untuk dimakan terutama telur dan sebagian dagingnya dengan cara memanggang atau membakar saja.
