The Grand Staircase Escalante is some of the most rugged and remote land in the United States. This photograph shows an area called Kodachrome Basin which is part of the one million acre National Monument In Utah. There is a rich geologic history here that goes back two hundred fifty million years.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – North American Friday week #31 – winner announcement!
I was lucky as a young kid, we got to visit a lot of the desert areas, and it has always fascinated me, all the uplifting, folding, and cracking, of some areas was always cool to see. Monument Valley was one of those areas we vacationed at one year. I love all the different colors of the rocks and the shape of the landscape.
You sure were lucky, those are some good memories to have.
Wonderful image Mr. Irvin like all you publish you know how to choose the landscapes to achieve the admiration of your followers.
Thanks for the compliment. I hope that all my images have a plentiful amount of appeal. You can't please all the people all the time. But you can please some of the people some of the time. Michael Irvine
