Electricfication

in #photofeed6 years ago (edited)

Lightning is usually produced by cumulonimbus clouds. The stronger the updraft the more powerful the lightning. There are about 1.4 billion lightning flashes on earth each year at a frequency of about 40 to 50 per second. This amazing photo was captured on film in Sedona Arizona USA, using a Pentax 6x7 medium format camera.

Electrification is the process that produces lightning.

The power of nature

The power indeed is most fascinating.

Hello, @irvinesimages, imagine being close to this, very dangerous, electricity is not my friend, a few years ago I lit a light bulb and it burned my hand, it was very painful, the scars are slight now, I respect everything related to electricity

Hello Martha, It's kinda funny because we have a thunderstorm moving in right now! The remnants of hurricane Rosa. I have a great deal of respect for electricity in the form of infrastructure or lightning. When I built my own home I also did all the electrical work myself. As far as storm chasing goes I use an educated approach. But there's always risk!

Amazing shot. Wow.. I've seen it before many times, but.. It's definitely one of those special shots that has a sort of timeless aspect or feel to it and it's one of the more epic lightning shots out there that I've ever seen. Hopefully this gets more upvotes and comments cause this shot deserves more attention in my opinion.

Yes Paul it is a special shot and memory. This time I was at the right place at the right time it was perfect. Imagine this blown up to 40x50 inches. Thank you!

Nice. Love that its on film. I was just reading that the Eastern DR Congo gets the most lightning in the world.

Hey thanks' That makes sense about the Congo because 70 percent of the worlds lightning occurs over land that's in the tropics and the equator runs through the Congo.

Yes and the congo produces its own weather system over the forest with 95% of the moisture being recycled into the atmosphere to create more storms.

That's noteworthy' thanks for sharing good relevant info!

Looks like i'm watching Thor Ragnarok. Really your creativity is highly appreciable. Keep up your great work my friend.

I think your right about that and he looks busy! Thanks my friend!
