...then one day she rides her bike!
My daughter can be pretty fearful at times.
She got a new bike in August and we've been trying for months trying to teach her how to ride her bike without training wheels.
She was convinced she couldn't ride the bike without the extra wheels, so we put the training wheels on. She rode and rode, rocking back and forth between the training wheels.
We had a special gift.
A friend of ours offered us a little red bike that looked like a lot of fun to ride. It had no training wheels.
She sat on it and started riding - no big deal. No training wheels, she just rode.
Dad, Can I ride my bike... with no extra wheels?
Next thing I know, she's asking me if I would take the training wheels off her bike so she could ride it. It suddenly occurred to her that she could ride without them.
So I pulled the training wheels off her bike and she started riding like it was no big deal!
It's amazing what a person can do if they just realize they can do it!

It is a big thing to ride without training wheels. I remember I took the training wheels off my son's bike too early, I was building a house on a gravel road....... Mom was not happy.......
The memories..... :)
What a great story. Although I'm sorry about your boy, I bet he had some cuts and scrapes for sure.
That is the way those things seem to go. One moment its "I can't do it dad" the next moment its "look dad I'm doing it", and the joy you see on their faces.... I can't describe.
It is so awesome, you captured that moment on video. I think if I had a smartphone 10 years ago I would probably have a lot more of my daughters 'firsts' captured.
I don't normally record things with my phone, but I've been doing it a lot more lately. It's great to capture these first time moments. They come and go so quickly!
YAY!! Well done precious child. What a milestone @ironshield
She's so thrilled!
Ah...the battlefield of the mind!
So so true. And applicable to us too!
Yeah....no kidding!
