At home, momma does the laundry with a washer and dryer, but while we were living off-grid last month, the girls had a chance to practice washing cloths by hand.
How to Dry Cloths Without a Dryer
We dried our cloths using the the old-fashioned method of hanging them out to dry. The girls had a fun time hanging all the cloths on the clothesline.
Even Daniel wanted to help!

It was a great lesson for our children, learning to establish a routine for keeping our cloths clean and ready to wear. They really enjoyed the opportunity.
I know who will be in charge of laundry if we find ourselves without a washer/dryer! :-)

I would say the biggest challenges of washing the clothes by hand are plunging them enough and then getting them dry.
After washing by hand, I paid more attention to how long the washing machine agitates and realized that it takes a while to really scrub the clothes clean. And it takes some attention to make sure to get those clothes out early enough and in the right spot to get dry.
They look like they are having fun...probably won't think that if they had to do it everyday! :-D
