Life's NO Secret #15 | Homemade barley water reduces body heat
It's Day 6 for me on self quarantine and I'm starting to get restless in my apartment. Thank goodness I've got work and can still function almost like I was in the office. Though I do miss seeing real people in front of me rather than just interacting with them over phone or computer.
Apart from work, I had to keep myself occupied with cooking; as in the limited cooking I could do with whatever provisions I have in my kitchen. Today, I decided to boil barley and have it as the fluid for the day. If back home, it would be a huge pot of water, half a packet of barley, two rock sugars and several pandan leaves for fragrant. A very simple task.
I forgot to soak the barley overnight so I had to boil it just a bit longer so that the wheat would open up. Since young, my mom has been telling me that barley is good to cool down the body and it's like a detox as well. If possible, don't even add any sweetener then it taste just like water. I wanted some sweetness as it's already so dull being home alone for 6 days.
What's your secret remedy to simple healthy cooking ?
I could use some for the next 8 days :(
Life's NO Secret is all about sharing; and it can be anything at all. Be it related to health, wealth, lifestyle or education. Sometimes, secrets are not really secrets. It's just that people don't talk about it or it's just been put aside until it becomes a topic to B****** about it. It could be anything under the sun; good, silly, fun, stupid or bad to some extend.
Life's NO Secret is an inspiration of my own in which I hope to share with all of you. NO Secrets means NO Lies. Just plain simple facts.
