skeleton of dragon - art

in #art8 years ago

Welcome friends!

On a trip I made a few years ago I was able to visit an anthropological and paleontological museum. While there I saw several fossils of animals and people who lived there many years ago. Reminiscing that trip came to my mind the question "how will it look be the skeleton of a dragon?", So I investigated a little about the hypotheses that are formulated regarding the appearance of these mythological animals and I set out to draw the skeleton of a dragon . Here you can see the final result, and if you continue reading my publication you can see the process of this drawing.

Materials:
-Graphite pencil HB (Number 02).
-Paper page.
-Draft.

ELABORATION PROCESS

To begin with, I drew the skeleton of the dragon with the pencil, here I just dedicated myself to drawing a simple figure which I would perfect later.this part took me quite a while, since each bone had a different shape from the others.

After having the figure ready I proceeded to define the details. I started by the skull of the dragon, definids to darker lines and shading the holes of the eye and jaw.

Then I continued to shade along the neck bone by bone, accentuating details of light and darkness.

This shading process was really complex, since the bones I drew were small and I needed a lot of precision when marking with the pencil. Fortunately, with patience I was able to continue shading up the dragon's thorax.

At this point I decided that it was best to highlight the lower legs and bones and then shade at the end.

After 2 hours of work I was able to finish the delineated that I wanted, now I only had to finish the shading and the details that would make the drawing more attractive.

As can be seen in the photograph, I already had more than 50% of the shaded skeleton.

After resting my hand a little, I managed to finish the complete shading of the dragon's body. Now all that was missing was the detail of the horns.

rabon91.JPG

I drew guide lines on the horns, since these would go in a dark tone with some details of light.

Here you can see from a general view how was the result of the shading of the horns. (Later you can see with details the skull and horns of the skeleton).

FINAL RESULT

After more than 6 hours of work I was able to finish my drawing. I'm getting into the technique of shading with graphite pencils and I'm really satisfied with the result I got.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to review my work. I'm satisfied with the result I got. I will continue practicing to improve the technique and make much better drawings later. As always it is a pleasure to share with you the things that I do. Remember that if you want to support my work you can do it with your Upvote.

Soon I will return with more art.
