Animalia
An animal is a heterogeneous pluricelular organism, so it can not itself produce the organic substances needed for feeding (as plants, algae, and blue-green bacteria do by photosynthesis), having to use organically prepared organic substances taken from the environment . Most use oxygen for breathing. There are also some animals living in oxygen-free environments. They breathe anaerobically. Of the category of warm-blooded animals, or endotherms, are mammals and birds.
The organisms that have been assigned to the Animalia kingdom have been introduced into increasingly systematic units according to their phylogenetic ties. Regarding these subdivisions there are several opinions, which are presented in the subchapter "Classification of the Animalia kingdom".
