Analysis of a chess game 01
I play a fair bit of chess online, and sometimes the games I play are interesting or instructive, this one
is more of an instructive game.
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 a6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e5 6. Nf5 d5 7. Nxg7+ Bxg7 8. exd5 O-O 9. Be2 Qd6 10. h4 Rd8 11. Bf3 Bf5 12. g4 e4 13. gxf5 exf3 14. Qxf3 Nxd5 15. Be3 Nxc3 16. bxc3 Bxc3+ 17. Ke2 Bxa1 18. Rg1+ Kf8 19. Qh5 Nc6 20. Bh6+ Ke7 21. Rxa1 Qe5+ 22. Kf1 Qxa1+ 0-1
After 6.Nf5 black already has a significant edge, d5 exploit this innacurate move.
Although Nf5 is not a direct mistake in a more usual position, but here it is just bad.
7.Nxg7+ white gains this pawn, even though it might be the best move it is poor compensation for giving
up the knight.
9.Be2 this feels a bit slow to me, I think white needs to play a little more energetic here.
10.h4 at least an interesting move, unfortunately it does not do a whole lot in this position.
The threat would be h5-h6, but I think it does not really pose a significant problem to black.
11.Bf3 fails to a tactic, but I did not spot it in the game, the tactical e4!! wins material, and it also opens
the bishop on g7.
11..Bf5 my first real misstep in the game, I missed the e4 idea and prepared it more, but this is not necessary.
12.g4 This is a strong move by white, in fact white might have gotten some decent compensation if not for the fact
black can play e4! Trades favor black.
15.Be3 white got back into the business of making mistakes, this one is quiet bad.
20.Ke7 The king should be safe here Bg5 is not scary since Bf6 covers that, Re1 is also not scary since my king
evacuates to the queenside.
