Chess: A Dramatic game

in #chess6 years ago (edited)

Before this I had been on a small loosing streak, but I righted the ship and got a nice attacking game.
Oh yeah almost forgot, I play black in the game.

B23 Sicilian Defense: Closed Variation

This way white chooses to face the sicilian here is not a good way, black can make the bishop on c4 into a less effective piece, I was surprised that my opponent in this game was rated over 2000

3...e6 4.d3 b5 5.Bb3 Nc6 6.Nf3 Bb7 7.Bf4 d6 8.Qd2 Nf6 9.h3

At this point I clearly favor black, no real risks

This move seems like it asks for to much, essentially it is hard for the white king to find a stable home now.

10...Rc8 11.O-O-O

Not very surprising, but I find it dubious whether white can survive on the queenside with the storm black is already starting

11...O-O 12.h4 c4

Now I decided it was reasonable to sacrifice some pawns to attack the white king directly.

I am pretty happy with my investment here.

17.Bb3 Nb4 18.a3 Bxf3 19.axb4

I really did not think he could take this knight since the black attack will be overwhelming now.

Giving up the queen is almost a resignation, now it is a simple matter of winning not even a lot of risks

24.Bc1 Nxg4 25.Bb2 Qf3 26.Rg1 g6 27.h5 Rd8 28.hxg6 Rd1+ 29.Ka2 Rxg1 30.gxf7+ Qxf7

I gave the queen here since it is a lot simpler to eliminate one of his bishops and be a rook up, rather than possibly giving him some potential for tricks

White resigns.
