A funny Exchange sac, giving a nice attack.

in #game9 years ago

I played the position below, and came upon a rather interesting idea, I decided to sacrifice the rook to both make the game complicated but also to gain the long diagonal, in some sense it was a good decision since it won the game pretty easily.

In that position I decided to play

1.d5

I offered him the options of capturing my rook

1.-c5

He declined the offer

2.h3

I insist

2.-Bxa1

He took the Rook

3.Qxa1

Here I have some compensation in form of the long diagonal, also the game gets a lot more complicated now, and he lost his way in the complications

3.-Ngf6

Seems like the right move

4.Nf5

This looks like the knight on f5 should give white a bit more compensation, or perhaps white has now so much compensation that I am better.

4.-Rh7?!

This looks like a mistake, but it is not losing immediately but it gets harder to hold the position
5.Bc3 here white should have a solid advantage

5.e5!?

This might not be strictly the correct move, but it does create more complications.

5.-dxe5 6.Re1 Nf8

Nf8 seems like it is to passive to be really good here.
A specific problem with Nf8 is the fact that it uncovers e5.

7.Nxe5 Bxf5 8.Bxf5 Rg7

Bxf5 might have been the point of playing Nf8, but then moving his rook to g7 seems like a really odd decision

9.Nc6 e6 10.Qxf6 Rg8

11.dxe6!

This is a rather crafty move in fact this should seal blacks coffin, 11.-Qxc6 12.exf7+ the queen is lost and the pressure on f7 generally gives white a much superior position.

The rest of the game, I did not think the rest particularly interesting.

I used to play a lot, now kinda lost the touch already.

Hopefully you can it again.
