[CR] My First Commission

As the title of this publication says this illustration is the first digital work for which I received a payment, for those who do not know I am Venezuelan by birth and I still live in this great country but unfortunately goes through a serious economic crisis, So much so that a minimum wage can not cover the costs of living and in my current job as a teacher of a drawing class for children in an art school my salary is usually below minimum, that was the reason for using the creativity and look for other ways to earn extra income. And thanks to a colleague at work, this opportunity arose, as I mentioned earlier because of my current financial situation I do not have a digital tablet to illustrate on the computer, but that is not an excuse to stop, so only using my pc's mouse make this order, of which I loved the result and I charged at that time 7 dollars to my partner when I delivered it (in case anyone is interested you already know how much is my current rate)

The drawing that I am asked for is a caricature portrait with a tendency toward anime but with a chef's theme, because it was used as a logo for a pastry that his family plans to inaugurate. The first thing was to get me a reference photo of the model

As I mentioned, I am attached to the old one and I feel more comfortable and efficient drawing on paper. For this reason I made the sketch with a lot of detail in pencil on a letter bond sheet, and since I do not have a scanner I took a photograph of it, to export it to the PC.

Photoshop and Paint to sai are the programs par excellence to illustrate in the computer, but to use it as it is due you need a digitizing table, otherwise they are only image editors. for this reason, I decided to use the Adobe Illustrator program, which works with vectors and not with bitmaps like the previous 2 programs, this makes the use of the mouse more comfortable, in addition to using vectors which allows to scale the image to any size and it never loses definition or becomes pixele.

In the program I put the photo of the sketch as a blocked background layer and in another layer I started to make the lineart or outline with the pen tool.

Once the lineart is completed, in another layer below it, and using the pen tool, apply the solid colors. Also take advantage of changing the color of the contour lines.

In the next step, change the color palette to one more in line with the desired result and start applying the shadows using the pen tool.

Already located the shadows just needed to apply the light and reflections and finalize with the details, to finish the work.

Introduction to nTOPAZ · Guide for CO, CR, and CU

hank you very much @smeralda I have practice making caricatures of people every time I was going to portray in the anime events, but this is the first one I do in digital and with color. o_O did not know that you could upload more than one image in Ntopaz
I already want to try it in a next publication n.n

Me encantó tu trabajo. Supiste capturar el aura de la señora. Uso Inkscape.

Nice picture, @inu-jim ! You really captured her likeness well :D

Thank you, I always thought that if a portrait, however caricature-like, is the drawing style, if it does not look like it does not work, that's why I strive to capture its essence

Such a cool caricature, @inu-jim! With this talent, you could set up a service to make avatars for the users in SteemIt. Have you thought about that?

great idea @trincowski. It had not occurred to me to offer that kind of services on the platform, I'll get into it once I restore the internet at home, I have to walk 3 hours to use a PC with internet for less than a time, that's why I'm not as active as I'd like, but once I solve that problem, I'll offer cartoons in steemit. thank you for the idea

I love the perspective that you gave to the model, you look great! I am also Venezuelan and I would love to make my drawings in digital but I do not have the resources and the PC that I have is super old :) to install such dense programs. I congratulate you for your work!!

Well another artist from Venezuela!
you can make your drawings on my computer I have since 2004 more than super obsolete, only has 4 gigs and 512 video card and this drawing I did this year. It would be a question of downloading programs that your team can tolerate.
animate you @akarantain can achieve digital drawing with the resources you haveand the way you draw in your publications your digital works will be amazing
