Joy the only child of Mr and Mrs James Abel. A goodly and godly child that parents in the neighborhood wished she was their own daughter. Two days after she finished her WAEC exams, she lost her dad in a fatal accident that claimed his life. All hope of going further to the university was dashed into pieces and left her hopeless.

Some months after her dad’s burial, her mum counseled her to get a job to assist in her upkeep since her dad was late and no hope furthering her education into the university.
She got a job where she was being paid twenty thousand naira but the job always kept her into the night as far as 10pm.
Life went on and happy except for the young men who have tried to woo her at workplace but have been turned down over and over again. Some of them became angry with her that they plotted to harm her.

Tunde her coworker who has been on her neck decided to take a step further by paying a hoodlum in the area close to her house to rape her since she was feeling like “mother Mary”.
She escaped the first attack which she narrated to her mum and her mum upon hearing the incident advised her to avoid taking the small path to the house that was short and dark but rather to take a bike to avoid sad stories.

She heeded that counsel but on a black Friday. She lost her pulse on her way to work and had no option than to trek the dark path that was shorter to get to her house since she had no money on her.
Some steps away from her home, she was stopped by two huge young men who dragged her into the near by forest and took turns to rape her. She pleaded but her pleading fell on deaf ears.
She wept so bitterly and to make matters worst, her mum had travelled to the village to attend to some matters and was to return the following day.

For two weeks she was Moody and was not as happy as she used to be. Her mum questioned her about her moody countenance ever since she returned from the village but she always told her nothing until her mum noticed some changes in her body structure and how she was increasing in body size.

Joy, sit down we need to talk her mother said to her.
Joy: hope no trouble? She pretensciouly asked her mum.
Mum: Not at all my daughter but I have noticed some changes in your mood and body structure over a while. Now tell me the truth are you pregnant?
The question shocked her and left her uncomfortable in her sitting position. Head bent and couldn’t respond to her mother’s question.
Mum : Joy am asking you a question, answer me now!
Before she could say yes, her mum landed her a slap.
Who is responsible for that?
Joy broke down in tears 😭 but after some minutes explained to her mum what happened.
Her mum couldn’t help than join her in the crying until they were tired of crying 😭.
Mum: You should have told me what happened to you. It would have been handled by taking a rape drug to prevent fertilization and some diseases.
Mum, I am really sorry 😔, I was scared of what your reaction would be because you warned me not to take that path again because I lost my pulse that day on my way to work. I have been worried and thinking of doing abortion today evening.
Abo what ? The mother cut her shot. You will have to keep the baby. I know the shame you will face and the trauma you will go through emotionally and the ridicule but you have to keep it. That might be a blessing in disguise and remember the Bible said
All things work together for good to them that love God
And you don’t know what God has in plan for that baby in your womb.
I will stand by you my daughter.
Thank you mum for your understanding and counsel. I love you mum, she said in tears.
After nine months, she gave birth to a baby bouncing girl and named her chinenye meaning it’s God that gives children.

Tunde on the other hand felt sorry for what he did and travelled out of the state to another.
Chinenye grew up to become an intelligent child. Four years later , a man sought for Joy’s hand in marriage despite the fact she was a single mother but that didn’t move him.
They got married and lived happily there after.
