Hospital Visit

in Steem Sri Lanka11 months ago

In previous post, I mentioned that I was bitten by a stray dog that I’m friend with. I went to the hospital the next day boarding as I was asked. When my boarding aunty got to know about this, she told me not to bother my sis to come all the way here when she can bring me to the hospital. She is very kind and caring to us, she even gave me, food after this situation so I can rest.

However, only the patients were allowed inside the emergency unit and aunty had to wat outside the building. I was very new to this environment since I had never been treated in a government hospital. So I was very confused at first. One doctor was asking me “did I get my ticket written?” and I was like “which ticket are your referring to?”, and when I understood what it meant I was like “Why do I need to get admitted?”. I came thinking that okay they will give me two injections and I can go home after that, very simple. But that was not the case. I needed to get three injections withing different time periods and I needed to get admitted because there is a possibility to get allergies as a side effect of rabies injection. I was not usually afraid of injections, but it was very nerve wrecking when I had to get vaccinated with three different thing in four different places of body, and I’m all alone in a new environment.

They put a canula first and inject the first vaccine. It was the first time that I ever had a canula. I have been sitting on a chair for nearly two hours and I was starting to feel sleepy and scared. They took me to a bed and injected the rabies vaccine all around my wound. It was so painful. I was screaming in my mind “why didn’t anyone tell me about this whole procedure. This wasn’t what I signed up for.” I was so relieved when it was over. I was feeling better in the time I was in the bed, but once I went back to the chair, I was feeling faintish and vomitish, so they had to give a bed again. I was feeling better after one hour and they gave the third vaccine and I couldn’t help asking “Do you have to inject it to both arms?”🫥

They let me go after some time. There were no vacant chair and bed, so they had to remove my canula while I was standing. My whole body felt wounded and aching. All I wanted to do was going to my room and sleep. And the worst part is I have to go there again 😢

This incident didn’t change my love for dogs, but the whole scenario was very traumatizing, so I decided to take precautions when petting stray dogs again.

Thanks for reading!

Have a nice day!
