After the First Wave | How we spent our days| 5% for SL Charity.

I have been adding to my digital diary about the way I used to spend my days before and after the pandemic. We were stucked in our home for four months because of the first wave of the pandemic. We were keenly waiting for the country to become neutral again to start travelling again. In the end of June, there was a little hope that we would be able to travel again in July, so we started planning then. However, we thought of going for a closer place to our boarding house because it’s in the same district, so we wouldn’t need to worry about sudden restrictions. That’s why we chose Negombo.

It is only less than an hour ride from our boarding place to Negombo by highway. We directly went to the town and bought all the things that we would need in the next following days and then, went to the hotel. We were little tired from the drive and shopping, so we spent our noon in the hotel. But our idling in the room ended with the thought of going to the beach. Who can say no to the beach after all? So we left the hotel around 5p.m. targeting to enjoy the stunning sunset in the beach.

Despite the pandemic situation, there was a considerable crowd in the beach, so we always followed the health instructions. We were right on the time when the sun was setting in the distant horizon. The whole sky was like a portrait which has just brushed by the painter with a magical touch. When the sky was getting closer and closer to the far away horizon, that heavenly colour of the sky turned to a majestic red. The vast water body near the horizon hurried to swallow it to paint itself with that majestic red. Yet, the shore is still serene and unaffected while all those wonders were happening in the horizon. Nature was busy with painting the atmosphere in the colours of magic, but it gave us a relaxation which no other place could gave which made us reluctant to leave the beach. Nevertheless, we set off to the hotel again with an unwilling mind.

Next day, we had to wake up early as we had planned to go for a boat tour in the lagoon. It was wholly a new adventure for me because it was my first boat ride in a lagoon. Riding in a lagoon is really different from riding in the sea or a river. Our guide was really a friendly person and he showed us so many nice scenarios and he even let me ride the boat also! It was the first time that I had ever touched a steering wheel and it was the steering wheel of a BOAT! So that journey really worth it.

That’s how we spent the morn of the second day and we spent our eve chilling in the hotel’s pool and guess what, there were no other guests there, so the pool was at our own service.

After spending months in the home, it was so refreshing to spend our two days surrounded by water. I would rather say, it was a reunion with nature than just traveling.

Thanks for reading.

Have a nice day.
