Japan Railways Group is considering the crypto payment option for rail transport
The largest Japanese railway company, Japan Railways Group (JR), would consider crypto-monetizing its rail and metro transport services. According to ANN News, the project is currently being studied with a partnership with a major local bank.
A project similar to that of RAKUTEN
According to the AAN News report, Japan Railways would look for ways to incorporate digital currency into its transport services . Also, the group plans to create a crypto company capable of feeding a token that will be used in the payment card of public transport services "Suica".
On the other hand, JR would look at a crypto-stock exchange solution to facilitate trading, based on the RAKUTEN system.
It has acquired an exchange platform to place it under Rakuten Payments, thus facilitating the integration of crypto payment options into the company's online sales ecosystem.
A new resource for the group
Behind the creation of a cryptocurrency company, JR hopes to take advantage of user demand to create a competitive market alongside the integration of payment options dedicated to rail transport.
In addition to facilitating travel, the crypto-stock exchange is a source of income for society.
In this perspective, JR could consider taking charge of digital currencies from major banks to extend its coverage.
However, no details have been reported on this subject.
