Multi-handed alien - Star Wars fan art fantasies, original graphic, process inside:)

in #art7 years ago

Hi, guys!:)

Today I'd love to share with you, may be, my favorite peace that I created in the Star Wars series so far. As I said before I seek for inspiration using first movies concepts as references, and this guy totally won my heart:) As usual, it' sepia faber castel liner on craft paper, + white pen for highlights. In last times this combination became one of my favorite methods to create, so I think I'll keep this style for a long time:)

And the process:

I wish you all the best and will be happy if you'll support me with vote:)

Love, Inber

Fantastic art.

Dangerous art! Very scary ;)

This one looks better than the last one. I like his face. Is this all from imagination? If it is, thats cool coz I like the costumes of the characters you draw. ;D

I wrote in the post where I take my inspiration... Just three lines

sorry!! missed it. Bad reader I am.

So you draw the object lightly in pen/pencil first, then write over it in darker pen, then finish off with the highlights? I'm starting to draw again (I probably won't be posting any of it on here since it's really raw and I'd get more depressed about it after not seeing any upvotes) .. anyway, one of my struggles has always been knowing how to shade an object properly.

I can't remember what I was taught in my art classes so many years ago ... I know you want to have an idea of where the light is shining from "inside the picture" and shade shadows onto the object(s) based on that ... but are there any other helpful tips you might be able to provide? TIA!

and I love the multiple hands / how you shaded his shawl..

In such non academical art I do shading just like I feel it will look good. I'm a self-taught artist, I finished only a short 3 months classes of art.
If you're seeking for good drawing tips - try Andew Loomis books, he explains everything like a god:)

Yeah, I remember that as I was drawing more, I became better at my shading techniques (you can shade "by sight"). I was just curious if you had gone through some more extensive courses than I did :)

I'm mostly self-taught as well (plus whatever grade-school art classes that I took in middle/high school).

No, I'm just self-taught, and I'm drawing only for three years (almost four). Work as a professional illustrator for only a year:)

Like you saw my father-in-law and you drew it no?

Hahahahaha (is joke)

Ooooops:)
