Censorship and Steemit

My whole career I've dealt with a lot of censorship and it's boundaries. I lost a page with 100k followers on facebook awhile back, deleted with no communication, and ever since I've had a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to trying to build a following somewhere. Giving a business the power to cut you off at their discretion is dangerous and you don't really understand the ramifications of it until it happens to you.

Steemit is breathing some fresh air into my lungs and wings when it comes to blogging, and I'm happy to share my work on this site, but what are the limits? What happens when guys start posting their dicks 1000 times a day? What happens when bots start gaming the system and generating funds disproportionate to the users?

I don't really know. I don't have any answers per usual.

The only thing I do know is that I'm nuisance on the internet, with a track record to prove it. For now this place seems to be really nice though! What are your thoughts on this community, where it's going, if it can survive when it's basically thriving on money and the volatility of the market.

Is it more then that? Is steemit ready for a broader audience, or will it stay as a cryptocurrency circle jerk?

Good ideas rises to the top and dicks and bad ideas drown. We know that competition is great and when you go on YouTube and Twitter, you don't really see a bunch of dicks or whatever. You can if you look for them. In a newsfeed, anything can appear and pop up on them. But when we are given freedoms and competition, we get what we give and what we want. If we want dicks, we will get more of it. But most people do not want that. Losers do that but winners rise above that. Kids may post dicks and kid things. Some grownups never grow up. Sad but it is true. But the real men and women rise to the opportunities to shine. Thanks for the great post and for the even greater questions. Nothing to hide here except money. People can go after more financial liberation. We can have more and we can do more. That is liberty. We do not have to be enslaved by eternal bank debts and loans and slavery.

Good post. The picture says a lot too. ✊

Go girl, fantastic picture. Cheers mike

Nice picture of the female anatomy there my friend :) ,good artwork

It IS nice to have a social networking site thats more or less geared JUST towards adults

I had an instagram where I posted paintings that I had made

one day my account was deleted because I had posted "pornographic images"

I see a bright future for steemit, especially if this type of openness to art and expression continues

Yea I hear you, I never post graphic materiel in my opinion, yea maybe I crossed some guidelines on instagram and FB, but the way it is handled with 0 customer service or explanation, and just BAN BAN BAN, made it hard to be a progressive artist. I either had to conform to what everyone was doing or be obliterated into obscurity. It's nice so far that Steemit is handling things maturely, making it feel really engaging and fun.

I am also hoping for the best here. Time will tell, until then.....Steem on!

well there should be limits on posting some adult and nude posts with pictures..yes what happen if 1000 times continuously posting a dicks......then i must say he is sick person....lets try to make this family show .......to

There is no place for censorship in a free society or a financial forum. Are you all sick snowflakes with delicate constitution that will melt with criticism? There is no such thing as hate speech, only free speech. If you censor speech, you only demonstrate your insecurities that need to be exposed.

Hopefully the steemit community can grow with this same positive vibe we already have. Schemers will only make the field disproportionate and mess the platform up

censorship is impossible... but flag wars are inevitable...

i do share your concerns on bots and the crypto-circlejerk though.

My feeling in the long 7days i have been on steemit is that it is a very positive welcoming comunity. I really hope it stays this way.
Since joining steemit i havnt even opened facebook. This place is highly interactive. You dont waste your day just swipping for nothing.
