Ready to be planted!

in #nature7 years ago

The planting season in India is over but this year rainfall has been really good. We would usually end planting free trees in September but public support has been really good so we extended and we have been planting trees from June to now it will continue in November too.

P.S: Plant one tree each year you live.

Nice!! Let there be more tree planting. Where are you planting them? Who takes care of them until they are established? And (most importantly) how did you choose what to plant? Curious what you ended up planting, and why.

We have planted more than 4500 plants this season for free (June-September) and we mostly plant in schools, colleges, universities, temples, masjids, etc, and any place we can plant. Most of these places have staff that waters the plants and take care of them.

We keep visiting all the places where we have planted trees and keep an eye on their growth. We often suggest organic stuff to improve their growth.

Now coming to your most important question: How did we choose what to plant?

We plant trees that are native to our city. I do not worry much about all the other details as planting trees is the most important thing here and not what you plant.

We do think of a few things before planting like we have to understand the soil, water and sunlight conditions. If the soil is too acidic then we can only go with plants that can grow in that soil and in my opinion Neem tree, Moringa, and Honge (Millettia pinnata) are best with hardy conditions.

I personally love planting fruiting trees and we have planted hundreds of fruit trees. Guava, Mangos, Figs, Sapodilla, Pomograntes, Lime, Lemons, Moringa are some that grow well in my climate and we have planted hundreds of these at different locations.

And I am happy that you too are interested in planting trees and most importantly you comment on my short posts and it makes me happy.
