Finally Papaya!!!

in #ecotrain4 years ago

I'm very very happy today.

Our Papaya tree finally gave fruit and it has started to ripe!!!

Wait... why am I so excited?

Because it took us a lot of experimenting, failure, and frustration our tree produced fruit.

So, my mother likes papaya's and she sowed some papaya seeds in our front yard over two-three years back and a few seeds grew to become really healthy plants.

But eventually, when they reached the height of about 3-4 feet the plants would get leaf curl disease. When the leaf curl and form into a ball kind of thingy the tree doesn't grow and kind of stays the same and doesn't produce any fruit not does it grow.

We had 4-5 papaya plants and all of them suffered the same fate and I had to cut them eventually.

I did a lot of research online, asked experts and never got satisfactory answers.

Eventually, I heard that too much water causes the leaf to curl. And that's when I stopped watering the plant and it did rain really well this year so there was no need to water the plant.

When I sense that the temperature is going high I pour just one or two-liter of water and it was always enough.

Just beside the papaya tree, we have a Chiku or Sapota tree, I think the English word is Sapodilla. So what we do is we just throw all our kitchen waste in the space between the Chiku tree and the papaya plant.

This kitchen waste then decomposes and turns into the best manure/fertilizer for the trees. I have been doing this for the last two-three years and it has given really good results. The Chiku tree gives really good amount of fruits and it is healthier than ever.

I have always tried to go 100% organic and always try to avoid chemicals.

So, now you guys know why I am so happy. My lazy no care attitude has given me some fruit... lol

I will share more when I eat the juicy healthy Papaya!!!
