California Typewriters: Why do writers love typewriters?

There's a documentory on the internet about typewriters called "California Typewriters". It is about typewriters and about people who love using them.

The makers of this documentory have interviewed people who love typewriters, from writers to movie actor Tom Hanks, to people who repair these ancient tools and there's an interview of a artist who makes art with old used, broken typewriters.

I have used typewriters, for a short while, but my love for typewriters come from watching my father work in his office. I always thought that typewriters were the symbol of status and of being a great office man.
