Freedom

Fighter

I don't remember. It's all a bit of a blur.

Guerilla fighters in Cuba?

Or

Stina says it was written about imperial soldiers? I don't remember. Some how I don't have the image of US soldiers being called freedom fighters. Maybe it was applied to local troops who supported US troops or at least acted in the interests of the US?

War. Morality.

An odd and confusing thing

I read an article today that kind of bugged me

It created what I think of as a false sameness - that the far right and far left both suffered from the same problems of being vocal minorities who attacked their own for ever disagreeing even minorly with their positions.

I guess it bugged me because the writer seemed to think that democrats are the far left.

Which...

It's such a strange world we've lived in these past 20 years.

People calling themselves socialists, but defending capitalism, not listening to workers, not engaged in organizing or bothering to understand. I mean, I get that there's always be a coolness to Che Guevara. I mean, the guy looks good on a shirt. But it's become so that "I'm a socialist" even comes out of the mouths of billionaires sometimes.

Words mean things.

Sigh. They used to. I don't want to give up, but boy just starting conversations is a slog. You have to step around a lot of preconceived notions to just address the particular matter at hand. Maybe it's healthy, this - we worry less about theory and more about practical impact?

Still, it's hard to build a movement without talking about what we want, and when the conversation is concrete, but made abstract by a bunch of nonsense from out there, boy...exhausting.
